Well, it's no secret that Arjan has been working in the UK for a few months now, but he's always been home on the weekends. Well, not this weekend because he has to work. I've known it was coming for about a month, but it really just hit me last night as I put the normal Thursday night load of laundry in. He's really not going to be home...no cuddles, no snuggles, no breakfast, lunch or dinners together. Nothing! I always miss him when he is gone, but I'll be missing him a little bit extra this weekend.

I hope his weekend project goes very smoothly and he will get a bit of time to do something fun this weekend too.

I usually show him all my layouts from the week when he gets home, but I'll put them here for him so he can go have a look.

Every year I say that I'm going to get all my yule preparations started early, but every year it's the same thing. Good intentions don't always make things happen and the gift shoppng usually gets done around the 15th of December. Somehow I don't think this year will be any different. :)

New Sofa

I just ordered a new sofa and it will be delivered next Tuesday, but the catch is that it isn't for us. Nikita, our wolf-hybrid, is getting a sofa of her own. Isn't it just cutest thing ever? Nikita either spends her time on the sofa with us, on the hard floor in the living room or upstairs on the landing, we'd been thinking about getting her a dog bed of her own. When I saw the hondenbank (dog sofa) in the new Wehkamp catalogue today I knew this would be perfect for her. We are planning on getting a new one for ourselves later in the year, and this one matches the one we've picked out perfectly. I just couldn't pass it up and immediately called Arjan in the UK to get his agreement on purchasing this for her.

Seasons Change FOBTY - 01 October 2009

I love the autumn with all it's glorious colors and smells! After a long and hot summer fall brings relief from the heat and the need to get outside and back into nature. Arjan and I go for many long walks just to see the changes Mother Earth is making as she prepares for her long winter sleep.

Living in a small village, with a farm or two within it's borders, we are priviledged to see the farmers harvesting their crops and with the little farm store in the center of the village we even get to sample the rewards of their labors fresh from the earth.

When it rains, it pours...LITERALLY!

We've been having a few issues in the downstairs WC but it seemed to be all taken care of 2 weeks ago. This week it's back to slow draining, but it was still working. Even this morning it was still working, but when I came out after cleaning and pouring some more declogger down the toilet and also the sink I saw the HUGE puddle on my utility room floor...So not nice...it's cleaned up now, but this weekend we will have to remove the rainpipe and get in there to see what's going on. At least I saw it and got it cleaned up before Arjan's timba was lost.

FOBTY-At the Fair

It had been many years since I'd been to a fair or any kind until earlier this year when a friend called at the last minute to ask us if we wanted to go to the little town fair in Brunssum. We decided to go and we spent a couple hours there, riding a few rides, and eatting some poffertjes, but the best part of it was watching Drak having so much fun. I think it's something worth repeating again soon.

Finally!

Well, it took me long enough (well over a year) but I've finally got my blog decorated like a normal person. I'm sure I'll still be teaking it here and there, but the major stuff is done and I must say I really quite like it. It's got a rather fall-ish feel to it, don't you think? :)

Today we are supposed to blog about our favorite sport and being that I'm really not into sports at all and neither is DH, I thought I'd blog about the one and only UNLV basketball gae I ever went to. So, as I said, I'm really not into sports but I got talked into going to UNLV basketball game and to be perfectly honest, I had a blast! It's amazing how much energy fills the arena with all those fans, not to mention I got see some future NBA players in the process. Larry Johnson, 1991 NBA drafts first pick and 1992 Rookie of the Year, as well as Stacey Augmon and Greg Anthony who both went on to be drafted int he 1991 NBA draft. So, even though I'm not a sports fan this is one of my best memories of my early 20's

Ahhhh, it's all about the cheesecake. I absolutely LOVE cheesecake of any kind but so far my fave is still the old-fashioned blueberry kind...I did find a recipe for Reese's Peanut Butter cup cheeseckae today, now if only they had Reese's in Holland!

So, today the assignment is to blog about 5 shows I've seen in their entirety or ones that I would like to see...For me it will have to be a combination of both, because I've only ever seen 2 shows from start to finish. The first of these would be Alias. There is just something about this series that had me from the first moment. The other one is Moonlight, I have seen them all and truly wish there were more of them to see.
I would love to see Charmed, the original 90210 and Firefly from start to finish. While I know I have seen almost ever episod of both Charmed and 90210, I know there a few that I have missed. I've heard so much about Firefly that I'd really love to see it, but I've not even see one episode of it yet.

Resolutions?

The FOBTY challenge at SSD for jan 2nd is to blog about your goals or resolutions for 2009.

I have to say that I'm really not so big on new year's resolutions. I think it's just a huge way to set yourself up to fail. There are a lot of things I would like to acomplish this year like, scrapping more, becoming better organized, time management issues, working more on my photography skills and definitely learning more Dutch. Any small improvement is a plus in my book.

It's really hard to believe that we are already 3 days into 2009. I'd love to be able to say that it's off to a good start, but I've been pretty damn sick with a tummy bug since January 1st. I'm happy to say that I am on the mend.

New Year's Eve Anita and Michael came over to help us ring in the new year. We played a good game of Levensweg, had some fresh, homemade oliebollen, and a nice bottle of champagne. Anita's birthday is jan. 1 so we gave her her birthday presents too.

We were supposed to go to Michael's for some cake for Anita's birthday on the 1st, but I woke up at 6am pretty darn sick, when I wasn't better by 2pm I had to call Anita and cancel. I hated having to disappoint her like that on her birthday, but believe me when I say that no one wants this stomach bug. I pretty much slept the entire day.

Yesterday I was still pretty out of it and spent my time between reading and sleeping. DH had to take the Tucson in for service and then pretty much sat around reading and taking care of me the rest of the day.

Still not 100% today, but I am feeling a bit better. We finally got to have our NY's day dinner, stone grill, it was pretty good, would have been a lot better if my tastebuds weren't off, though. :)

Oh yeah, I started reading the Twilight series on Wed. afternoon around 4 and finished all 4 books plus the draft of book 5 on SM's site yesterday. I am really quite hooked on this series, and will probably start reading them again next week.
